Don’t hesitate to contact me at any point in the writing process. Having a seasoned critical thinker with a careful set of eyes engage with your writing will enrich the quality of your work, from the ideas stage through publication. I’m here to help you feel great about the scholarship you’re sharing with the world!
Each service includes a complimentary project-scoping Zoom or phone conference and a follow-up letter, in which I’ll provide a summary of our stated aims for the project, a price estimate, and a timeline for project completion.
Once we’ve agreed on a price and timeline, I’ll e-mail you a contract outlining terms and conditions, as well as an invoice for initial payment. I prefer to receive half of the agreed upon price of the editing project up-front, and half at the time of project completion. That said, I often work with scholars who rely on departmental funding, and am flexible with university payment processes and timelines.

Developmental EditinG
Intensive engagement with the form and content of your writing, including but not limited to: organization, argument clarity and structure, style, tone, pacing, flow, and overall legibility of your project for its intended audience. All editing is done in Microsoft Word.
In addition to providing you with detailed track-change edits and marginal comments on your work, I provide every client with Developmental Editing Notes, in which I summarize and clarify key issues I observed while editing. You’ll find these notes extremely useful, as they serve as a “road map” to help you navigate my suggestions for changes and other feedback. I generally produce one 3-4 page DE Note per article or book chapter.
Note: A Developmental Edit does not include copyediting. I would be happy to scope for and perform that service later in the revision process.
Rate: $85/hour
Writing coaching (NEW!)
Are you someone with no shortage of great ideas who also has a hard time moving a writing project forward? Do you struggle with distraction, burnout, or finding the will to just keep writing?
If that sounds like you, try breaking out of the “isolation chamber” that writing can easily become with a Writing Coach. Through frequent, conversational Coaching Sessions over Zoom, I will help you stay on track and motivated to reach your writing goals.
Though I’ll let you tell me what you’d like to focus on during our sessions, my specialties include helping you think through the nuances of your argument and ideas; intensive discussion of discrete sections of your work; facilitating regular, gentle “check-ins” to gage your progress; and perhaps most importantly, helping you keep your confidence up as you move your project closer to the finish line.
Rate: $85/hr. Submit this form before we meet, and we’ll spend the first Coaching Session getting to know each other and designing a program to suit your needs.
Copyediting
Ensuring that your writing is consistent, factually sound, error-free, and easy to read before going to publication. Eliminating repetition, grammatical mistakes, type-os, awkward or “clunky” sentence structures, and other issues with the presentation of your prose. Footnotes, endnotes, and bibliographies will also be checked for proper formatting and consistency.
Rate: $70/hour
Manuscript Assessment
This service involves reading a full draft of your manuscript, and providing you with a detailed Developmental Editing Note in which I’ll outline issues you’ll want to focus on as you prepare your work for submission to a university press or scholarly journal. If you have a press or journal in mind, please let me know, and I’ll tailor my assessment to its requirements. You may also want to send me Reviewer notes, or other feedback you’ve gotten from readers or press editors, so I can give you the most focused, helpful assessment possible. Note: MA’s don’t include line edits, but this service is the best “bang for your buck,” as far as getting a lot of quality feedback for a good price. The typical length of MA’s can run from 8-15 single-spaced pages, depending on the specifics of the work you send me.
For Dissertations: I offer both dissertation-to-book and pre-defense manuscript assessments. Let me help you get that dissertation defense-ready!
Rate: per-project/ flat rate
Full book or dissertation drafts: $2800
This rate applies to projects of up to 90,000 words (or 6 chapters of approximately 15,000 words each). The rate for longer projects will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Individual book chapters and book proposals: $750
Articles-in-progress: $1200
