Sara Appel,

With a doctorate in Literature from Duke University, Sara’s areas of scholarly expertise include gender and sexuality studies, working-class studies, critical race studies, and visual culture. In addition to regularly working with Duke University Press book clients, she has served as Associate Editor for The Journal of Working-Class Studies and Production Copy Editor for the journal Cultural Anthropology. She received training in Developmental Editing from the Book Publishing program at Portland State University. Sara lives in Portland, Oregon, and loves comics, dogs, true crime podcasts, and writing poetry.
